Rescued from a Boring Life

As I began to study for a message I came across the passage in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” I was stricken by the fact that a life lived under “the thief” is a life of waste, destruction and regret and a life in Christ is uplifting, exciting and purposeful.

My study then led me to verses in God’s Word where God says he will “quicken us.” (or “to make alive”) What an exciting thought that not only does God want to rescue me from the destructive power of sin in my life but that he actually want to make my life “alive.”

More than any other time in our culture people are bored. Their bored with their jobs, bored with their spouse, bored with their kids, and just plain bored. They take steps to remove this boredom by purchasing nice cars, large homes and extravagant possessions yet the boredom continues. Often their condition leads them to experiment with alcohol, illegal drugs or immorality all in a constant effort to keep from being bored. What a sad way to live.

Christ offers you a life that is ALIVE! Don’t fall prey to the thief’s lie that he has something better for you. Let Christ rescue you from a boring, mediocre life. Let Him quicken you through His Word, His will and His way.
